My dad spent many years in the oil fields of Texas, and I have always an interest in that part of our history. I have been painting oilfield scenes since the early 70’s. In the early years of drilling for oil, technology was lacking, and many wells were hit and miss. But when a burst of oil exploded from the ground below it came as a thunderous burst of energy and volume. These cowboys were caught in the middle with spooked cattle in the roaring blowout, the stuff that made them “Heroes and Legends”.
