A few years ago, I participated in a fall cattle round-up on a friend’s ranch near Durango, Colorado. We packed into a line shack in the mountains where we would spend several days gathering cattle. It is critical to winter the cattle in the meadows below where they can be fed and tended to through the worst months. I captured this scene as we crossed a mountain stream as a light snow was beginning to fall at “Whitewater Crossing”.
