Commissioned by a large corporation, I found this subject to be of great interest. It brought back so many stories of my father and my uncles who all entered World War II together from a small west Texas town. Like so many others, they went to defend our country in a time of great need. I am blessed to have letters my father sent home after surviving the beaches of Normandy. Families would meet on the courthouse steps, sharing any news they may have received. Communication was difficult at best, and hearts were bonded together with love and concern. This painting is my grandfather’s desk with Bible opened and a letter just received and his reply lying below his glasses. No doubt, he like so many other fathers and mothers were very proud and deeply concerned for their “All American Cowboy”.
